Francesca Ter-Berg at Turner Contemporary

Join Francesca Ter-Berg, cellist, composer, producer, and songwriter, for an evening of experimental and traditional music at the Foyle Room in Turner Contemporary. This immersive performance will feature Francesca's new works, group improvisations, and original material by her collaborators. The event will be accompanied by sensory visuals and followed by DJ sets from Emily Slime and Alishe McCalmont. Francesca is an activist and advocate for community art and space who has helped to save the Margate Synagogue from being sold to property developers.

Celebrate International Women’s Day at Ellington Park

This free family festival takes place in Ellington Park in Ramsgate. It includes a community parade, workshops at the bandstand, a drama and choir performance, a pop-up market with artisan craft sellers, have-a-go quilting, and other activities around the park. The Ramsgate and District Model Engineering Club's model train will be open and running all day, and Tania’s Ice Creams will be serving up tasty treats. Ann and her van presents a collage-making station, spreading positivity and creativity. Don't miss out on the fun and celebration of the Power of Women.

Denai Moore and special guests

This POW Thanet Festival Headline Concert will be a celebration of globally recognized female musicians in Thanet. It promises to be an unforgettable night of genre-bending music, featuring the Social Singing Choir, Sophie Stirling with backing from Institute Collective and Margate local Francesca Ter Berg on cello, and headliner Denai Moore.

Margate Zine Fair

The Margate Zine Fair is a free drop-in event where you can explore zines, illustrations, stickers, badges, and prints, and create your very own zine to take home. It celebrates zine culture in Kent and the South East - so please bear in mind some content may be for adults only. The event will take place in the Foyles gallery on the ground floor, and the zine-making workshop will take place in the Clore Learning Studio on the First Floor. The exhibitors include Dellana Ariévta, Greta Sharp, Holly Casio, Milk & Moon, Nancy ArtMusic, and Chess Club Magazine.

Rosie's Pole Fitness offers a pole fitness taster class for everyone at POW Festival 2023, exploring self-confidence through pole dance and movement. The class is suitable for absolute beginners and is focused on fun and empowerment, with no prior experience necessary. Pole dancing is a female-led sport that has gained popularity in recent years, and Rosie's Pole Fitness aims to provide a fun, safe space for people to try it out.

Join a murder mystery dinner party underground…

Inspector Catchpole takes a break from his usual crime-solving duties and joins a group of amateur cavers to explore an uncharted underground cavern. However, his break is cut short when a murder occurs, and he finds himself trapped underground with rising tensions and water levels. The Inspector must use his knowledge and skills to catch the murderer who is among the group of cavers. Attendees join in on the sleuthing fun and also enjoy a delicious three-course meal. Ghost Car at Whereelse?

Ghost Car rage against political injustices, from patriarchal inequality to homophobia, racism, and toxic relationships. Their music calls for autonomy and revolt against an archaic nationalist system, with riff-heavy bangers influenced by 60s psych. They have supported the likes of Shonen Knife, Amyl and The Sniffers and Beth Ditto. Ghost Car spread their mantra of inclusivity and equal rights as loudly as possible.

Amber Warning is Margate's newest dance music night, journeying through house, techno, breaks, and electro. Expect cutting-edge electronic beats and hidden gems from the guests' extensive back catalogues. Dress to sweat!
